Concussion issues still debated

The connection between sports related concussions and the diagnosis of the degenerative brain disease Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CET) continues to be a topic of debate. Recent data and public statements are doing little to find common ground. While schools around the country, often at legislative directive, are making significant changes in their concussion protocols, there is still no consensus of the effectiveness of such measures.

One tactic is to limit contact in practices.

One of the most touted remedies for reducing football concussions, however, is being questioned as more data has been assembled.

Sports other than football are also getting concussion consideration.

And as measures are being taken to address concussion issues, some still are questioning the long-term concerns particularly as it relates to CET.  The Commissioner of the NHL is denying that there is any connection between concussions and CET.
